Esteban & Claudia’s Workshops

Esteban & Claudia’s classes are rooted in traditional Buenos Aires tango, yet shaped by contemporary bodies and today’s social dance floor. Their approach connects technique, musicality, and intention—helping dancers move with elegance and personal expression—not copy shapes.

EC1. Caminata & Mugre – The Intelligence of Walking
This class refines weight transfer, intention, and grounded movement to create a caminata (walk) that feels alive and musical. You’ll discover how “mugre” (dirt) becomes a source of presence in your tango walk.

EC2. Elegant Tango in Motion – Grounded Technique, Musical Awareness & Refined Sequences
Learn how stability and elegance emerge from grounded use of the floor. Through refined sequences, you’ll work on balance and musical phrasing, developing movement that feels both controlled and expressive. Technique here is in service of dance, not decoration.

EC3. Video Lecture: Understanding Tango Styles – Why things are danced the way they are (1h 30m)
Using rare video material from Esteban’s private collection, this lecture aims to clarify misconceptions about tango styles and show how each style emerges from a specific social, musical, and spatial context. It explains the functional logic behind different ways of dancing and prepares students for the physical work in the workshops.

EC4. The Logic of Turns – Old Structures, Modern Solutions
Giros are approached as a logical system rather than memorized figures. By understanding structure and timing, you’ll gain tools to adapt turns to different partners and spaces. Classic references (Portalea, Filippini, and Todaro) meet modern solutions for fluid turns.

EC5. Boleos with Meaning – Elegance, Timing & Floor Awareness
Boleos are explored not as flashy effects, but as responses to energy and intention. This class emphasizes timing, control, and use of the floor, helping you create boleos that feel organic and musically justified.

EC6. Styles as Languages – Milonguero, Salon & Personal Expression
Rather than fixed formulas, styles are presented as languages shaped by context. You’ll learn how milonguero and salón principles inform embrace and movement—and how to integrate them into your personal tango without imitation.

A living bridge of tango generations

Internationally acclaimed maestros rooted in Buenos Aires tradition
Formed through close study with older-generation milongueros and shaped during a time when they were themselves a reference on the Buenos Aires dance floor, Esteban & Claudia bring together lived social tango, refined stage experience, and later study of modern technique. What they offer is not a style frozen in time, but a coherent synthesis shaped by decades of dancing and teaching.

Renowned educators known for clarity, depth, and lasting impact
Valued for their precise explanations and structured approach, they help dancers reorganize their tango from the inside out — balance, coordination, embrace, musical awareness, and communication. Their teaching emphasizes the logic behind movement, offering tools that translate immediately to the social floor and guide long-term practice.
